You don’t know what I am going through and I don’t know what you are going through.
People are very quick to judge. Pause. Stop. Should I judge slowly? No! No judgment at all. Listen. Look. Try to understand. Relate? Figure it out? Silence race of thoughts, which most of the time are assuming the worse. And most of all, be slow to speak your mind. Catch your tongue before it slaps words out there.
If I would say often,it would be a lie, as most of the time ,really reflects our quick to judge manner of thinking. Appearance is NR.1 that determines how we see others. Its not even about the fashion. Its about the way people carry themselves on the display of the world. If a saying “You are what you eat” is absolute truth, then “You are what you wear” works the same. Crumbled, dirty and few sizes too small or big clothes, would mirror what you are inside? Same time tidy, well fit means you are great? I beg to differ, even-tho there is huge relation to how inner reflects outer. But that’s not the focus for this conversation.
How many times you willingly approach somebody who makes your nose shrink just by looking at them?
Do you share kind words and actions with somebody who looks “unacceptable” or troubled? Or do you just turn away and bury your nose in your own business?! Sounds familiar, right! We don’t want to be bothered with something that doesn’t click with our own criteria. Maybe its time when we step out of our comfort zone; me, myself and I. And welcome others. Share a smile, say Hi to that homeless person whom you been passing by for years. Don’t cross street when seeing that noisy neighbors of yours coming your way. Instead of hiding from your boss in store isles, tear away uneasiness and approach. Maybe you will learn why he is such pain in the rear lately! I can’t promise that everybody will open up and make picture clear, but I can assure that you will feel way better when you stop hiding from certain people and show positive attitude.
Do you know how many people just by their looks are abounded? Starting with a newborn, parents didn’t want him as he wasn’t “regular” or somebody with rare disease that causes obesity. Or why that young girl is all covered in tattoos, piercings and wears all black and spits. Or you know those grumpy old people, who smell like death and gives looks? Yes,same, you try to avoid! Without knowing their story; we Judge! We Judge book by its cover, not even taking it off the shelf and turning pages! Arrogant ignorance!
We admit or not, we all judge. But awareness of our categorical discriminating mindset is trap of bondage to not know whats out there. As I been pushing through my own fears stepping out of my comfort zone, I encourage everybody to open up, not shelter in. Being a person who keeps problems on very private level, I understand the hardship of talking about it and same time, know that a smile you see can hold huge weight and fights own battles behind it. On the other hand, just simple and sincere question about “Whats going on?” can end in surprising response. Like at ER I simply couldn’t help myself guessing what is every-bodies pain and did they do the same looking at me? What did they see behind my tears and worried face? Did they even give a thought after first glance before going back to the phone. No matter what it was, I prayed for all of them get well and that they have somebody to take care of them afterwords. Nobody should be alone, when in pain. We need each other more then we ever know! Place yourself in their shoes so others can do the same about you! It all goes around.
Be kind, be thoughtful, be open minded. Be the best you can be!
Be the person your dog thinks you are!
Most definitely!
